Have you ever dreamed about winning the lottery? Wouldn’t it be awesome to hear your numbers being called on TV, and then “ka-ching!” You’ve just won 100 million pesos. Yay!
Of course, it all starts with buying a lottery ticket. Here in the Philippines, you can buy tickets from authorized outlets of the PCSO Lottery Draw, more commonly known simply as “Lotto.”
What is the Philippine Lotto?
Since 1995, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) has been holding lottery draws and broadcasting them daily over the People’s Television Network (PTV) channel. The PCSO is a government-owned corporation that is tasked to help raise funds for national health programs, medical assistance, and other initiatives. Hence, it continues to carry out the Philippine Lotto.
Lotto consists of five major games: Lotto 6/42, Mega Lotto 6/45, Super Lotto 6/49, Grand Lotto 6/55, and Ultra Lotto 6/58. It also holds digit games such as 2D Lotto (EZ2) and 3D Lotto (Swertres). Each game has a specific schedule of official draws throughout the week.
How Can I Play Lotto?
As mentioned earlier, you can join Lotto by buying tickets from any authorized outlet nationwide. More importantly, you must be at least 18 years old before you’re allowed to buy tickets or claim your winnings. You can purchase Lotto tickets from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm daily.
Once you have purchased a ticket, it’s time to pick numbers! For the five major games, simply choose six (6) numbers between 1 and the maximum number for the game, e.g. from 1 to 45 for Mega Lotto 6/45, from 1 to 58 for Ultra Lotto 6/58, and so on.
In case you don’t have any numbers prepared, you can request for the “Lucky Pick” option, wherein a computer will generate six random numbers for you.
Meanwhile, for the digit games, simply choose a set of numbers between 1 and 31: two (2) numbers for EZ2, or three (3) numbers for Swertres. Just like in the major games, you can also opt for Lucky Pick if you don’t have any particular numbers in mind.
Once you have bought your tickets, all you have to do now is wait for the lottery draws on PTV network! Results are also published on the official website of PCSO. Bear in mind that there is a schedule of draws per game, i.e. every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for Mega Lotto 6/45; every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday for Super Lotto 6/49, and so on.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many people have been asking whether it’s possible to play lotto online. Well, the short answer is NO, it is not possible at this time. However, there is a possibility of this happening in the future!
According to a February 2021 article from Manila Times (https://www.manilatimes.net/2021/02/02/news/top-stories/pcso-eyes-online-lotto/836154), a PCSO official has stated that online games may be introduced very soon. PCSO General Manager Royina Garma revealed that perhaps a year or two from now, people can use their cellphones to buy tickets and play Lotto.
